Activated Charcoal

Activated charcoal has been used for medicinal purposes since the early 19th century. It is made using carbon, which is combined with different gases and exposed to extremely high temperatures. Through this process, called activation, the carbon develops little pockets of space on its surface that greatly increase the surface area of the nutrients. It is this surface area that makes activated charcoal so popular with consumers, due to its ability to trap chemicals and toxins in your body.

Activated charcoal is made using organic sources that possess high carbon content, like coconut husks. You are more likely to recognise regular charcoal as a fuel source that you would use for fires and barbecues, however, additional toxins and chemicals have been added to charcoal of this nature.

Charcoal Tablets

The World Health Organisation has included activated charcoal in its list of essential medicines, meaning you’ll likely find it in all ambulances, pharmacies and medical facilities. As time has gone on, more and more potential applications for activated charcoal have arisen, conjuring a reputation as a must-have home safety precaution.

Activated Charcoal is used in supplement form to help remove and detoxify the body using adsorption. Although this sounds like absorption, is involves the adhesion of atoms, molecules and ions onto the surface of a larger absorbent. Absorption would involve those molecules to permanently dissolved into the entirety of the absorbent, not just its surface.

Benefits

Because of its unbelievably large surface area, activated charcoal is one of the best natural absorbents you will ever get, with a nearly uncanny ability to bind undesired gasses in the digestive system and the stomach. A single gram of activated charcoal has a total surface of no less than 500 square metres – which obviously means it effortlessly coats everything in its path.

Charcoal tablets, therefore, neutralise awkward bloating and trapped wind, which is a regular side effect when people are dieting.

Charcoal Capsule

The fact that this is a natural product is of course great news, but the even better news is that it is extremely effective. No wonder it is becoming increasingly popular among a growing number of people as they learn about its remarkable benefits.

More good news is that activated charcoal pills are suitable for all individuals who suffer from belching, bloating, flatulence and abdominal cramps after eating. It is also ideal for those who regularly use protein supplements and who experience an increase in intestinal gas after consuming the shakes. Since they contain no animal products, these pills are also suitable for use by vegetarians.

You can also use activated charcoal to help whiten your teeth, for mould cleansing, water filtration, skin and body health, to promote a healthy digestive tract by getting rid of toxins that cause oxidative damage, allergic reactions and bad immune system function.

Finally, activated charcoal can be used to help prevent cellular damage to the liver and kidneys, and support healthy adrenal glands. Ageing might be a natural part of our lives, but premature ageing can be prevented if we get rid of the toxins we are exposed to through what we eat, our workplaces, our homes and our environment.
