Definitions and Governing Bodies
Food Supplements: Products intended to supplement the normal diet, containing concentrated sources of nutrients or other substances with nutritional or physiological effects. These products are typically regulated by the NFSA.
Complementary Pharmaceuticals: Products containing active ingredients with a complementary medical impact, used to help treat, prevent, restore, or adjust physiological functions. These are overseen by the EDA.
Registration Process.
Determine the Appropriate Authority.
Assess the product's composition and intended use to identify whether it falls under the jurisdiction of the NFSA or the EDA.
Prepare Necessary Documentation.
Product Dossier:
Including detailed information on ingredients, manufacturing processes, quality control measures, and safety data.Labeling:
Ensure compliance with Egyptian regulations, including accurate ingredient lists, usage instructions, and any required warnings.Submit Application.
For products under NFSA jurisdiction, submit the registration application to the NFSA.
For products under EDA jurisdiction, submit the application to the EDA.
Review and Approval.
The respective authority will review the application, possibly requesting additional information or clarification.
Upon satisfactory review, the authority will grant approval, allowing the product to be marketed in Egypt.

Labeling Requirements
Labels must be in Arabic and include all necessary information as stipulated by Egyptian regulations.
