Traditional Herbal Remedies
What is a THR?
Traditional herbal medicines have been used for many centuries and are still the most widely used medicines in the world today. Human physiology has evolved in sync with the nutrients and biochemicals provided by plants and their chemical compounds are still the base for up to 40% of the pharmaceutical drugs used in the US today. Derived from the flowers, roots and leaves of plants, they are available in capsule, tea and cream formats.
In May 2011, the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) enforced regulations in the herbal medicines category which meant only the highest quality products could sell under a recognised government license, a Traditional Herbal Registration (THR).
For consumers this is essential as it means all herbal medicines classified and labelled as a THR have been regulated to ensure the best quality and safety to consume. To carry this symbol, a product must prove historical evidence of traditional use of the herb for a minimum of 30 years.
Herbal medicines are used by roughly a quarter of all adults within the UK with the market being estimated at £485m in 2015. Every year, 1.5 million packs of St John’s Wort are sold within the UK. Trials suggest it is as effective as prescribed antidepressants such as Prozac in mild to moderate depression.
At Supplement Factory, our range of private label THR supplements offer the perfect herbal remedy for your needs. Each of our products has a traditional herbal registration, licensed and approved by the MHRA. These popular herbs have been used within the treatment of various ailments and have become some of the best-selling herbs in the UK.
Each product will be produced within your own branding look and personality.
